Starting July 22 to 24, 2025, teachers from Al-Ikhlash Islamic Modern Boarding School had the opportunity to attend the International Model United Nations (IMUN) conference held in Jakarta. The event brought together participants from around the world, providing a platform for cultural exchange, global discussions, and leadership development.
IMUN is a simulation of the United Nations, designed to engage young delegates in discussing and resolving real-world global issues. Topics covered during the conference included climate change, education, human rights, international security, and public health. Through structured debates, negotiations, and collaborative resolution writing, participants not only explored global affairs but also sharpened essential skills such as diplomacy, critical thinking, and public speaking.
Participating in IMUN proved to be an enriching and inspiring experience for both delegates. One of the most valuable benefits gained from the conference was the exposure to public speaking in a formal, high-level environment. Watching and participating in the debates, the teacher learned various techniques in structuring arguments, presenting ideas clearly, and responding to criticism with confidence and professionalism. These are vital skills—not only for international diplomacy but also for teaching and daily communication.
Their primary goal in attending IMUN was to bring back meaningful experiences and new perspectives that could benefit their students. Al-Ikhlash Islamic Modern Boarding School is committed to nurturing students who are firmly grounded in Islamic values while also being globally aware and socially responsible. The principles upheld by IMUN—such as leadership, open-mindedness, and global awareness—closely align with the school’s vision for its students.
