Rooted in Character, Growing in Change: Reflection on TMI Al-Ikhlash Education Outcomes
Today’s world of education faces a double challenge: an increasingly real moral degradation on the one hand, and technological disruption that demands rapid adaptation on the other. In the midst of this vortex, a fundamental question arises: to what extent is the pesantren education model able to equip its students to not only survive, but also to give color to society? The answer to this question is clearly exposed through alumni tracking data that has recently been collected from hundreds of respondents across generations, starting from 1999 to 2023 graduates.
The Existence of Character as the Main Capital
The most striking finding was the consistency of alumni in placing “Character and Ethics” as the strongest variable in their success. More than 90% of alumni feel that the discipline and morals forged in the cottage are their main differentiators from their peers in the world of work and universities. This proves that investment in character building is not something that is obsolete; It has actually become invaluable social capital. Practical competencies such as leadership confidence and public speaking skills emerge as the fruit of consistent mental education.
Real Social Impact The educational
Outcomes of pesantren are often difficult to measure if they only use material parameters. However, if we look at the social impact, the success of TMI Al-Ikhlash is very real. The majority of alumni report that they remain religious references in their environment—driving social activities, teachers, and young figures. This is proof that pesantren has succeeded in printing “earth nails” that strengthen the moral foundations of society in various remote areas.
Responding to the Future: Academic and Digital
Although full of appreciation, the voices of alumni also provide valuable input as a compass for the future. There are two big aspirations that arise:
- Strengthening Academic Competitiveness: It is hoped that the institution will provide more intensive assistance for final students in facing the selection to enter State Universities (PTN) without losing their Islamic boarding school identity.
- Digital Literacy: In the 4.0 era, information technology integration is a necessity. Alumni hope that students today have adequate digital skills so that technology can become an effective means of da’wah and professionalism.
Wrapping Up: Messages from the Past
A touching quote from one of the senior alumni reminds us all: “The character and manners obtained in the cottage must be instilled in our hearts so that we can be istiqomah in the midst of the moral decline of the last days.” The results of this evaluation are not just numbers, but a reflection of the struggle for education. Our task now is to keep the roots of character strong, while continuing to expand the branches of science and technology so that more and more benefits can be reaped by the people.
